BEAVERTON, Ore. & SAN FRANCISCO–Feb. 25, 2008–Today, Jordan Brand, a division of NIKE, Inc., and blue-jean originator Levi Strauss & Co., announced distribution plans for their limited-edition, co-designed collection, known as 23 / 501. The men’s only, specially designed, co-branded product blends both leaders’ iconic, renowned styles with an urban edge. A limited number of toe-to-head fashion packages for collectors of both brands will be available in 23 markets starting March 1, 2008.
“The Levi’s 501 Jean is an American classic synonymous with originality and authenticity, and has become the denim design that defines the jeans category. Similarly, the Jordan Brand Division of Nike has always set the tone for the urban and sport fashion markets,” said Doug Sweeny, Levi’s Director of Marketing. “What makes the 23 / 501 collection so special is that it represents the harmonious union of these two iconic and innovative brands.”
As part of the project, the two global pioneers created a limited-edition collection pairing exclusive, co-branded Air Jordan Retro 1 style sneakers with a pair of Levi’s Original, Button-Fly 501jeans and a signature tee shirt. The collection features unique graphic artwork fusing iconic imagery from both brands. All three pieces will be sold together as a set for a retail price of $395 and will come housed in an innovative, co-branded storage package, destined to become a collector’s item.
“The 23 / 501 collection represents a true collaboration of two originals that created a premium collectible for the urban trendsetter and Jordan / Levi’s collector,” said Fran Boller, Business Director of Apparel, Jordan Brand. “We hope fans of both brands will appreciate the fusion of style and originality and not want to miss the opportunity to add this premium pack to their wardrobes.”

2 commentsFirst of all I wanna thank my connect…
Here’s my ballot…I haven’t seen enough of the contenders but like always I definitely think there’s been some snubbery. “Juno“, “There Will Be Blood“, and “No Country for Old Men” were my favorites of the year, but I encourage you to check out David Cronenberg’s (“Spider”, “History of Violence”) “Eastern Promises” & Noah Baumbach’s (“Squid and the Whale”) “Margot at the Wedding“.
And as for performances…I have the most issues with both parents from “Juno” (J.K. Simmons & Allison Janney), and Paul Dano from “There Will Be Blood” being left out. As good as Daniel Day-Lewis is, this kid was disturbingly good. We’ll have screenings for my 3 faves above once they’re available - be on the lookout for that.
Enjoy the show…

Good luck to A.T.C. - a.k.a. TODD SWEENEY!!

My last day at Vegas was spent with my friends over at FRUITION….
The shop currently features an incredible collaboration they did with Dr. Romanelli, which I’ve referenced before in a blog a couple months ago. Nike Windbreakers, Christian Dior Cardigans…all surgically sliced up by the good doctor creating one of kind pieces of genius.
Some of the installation…

I also spotted these cinematic/extra butter-esque pants…

Always teaching, always inspiring, the Fruition family invited me along to help out with an upcoming photo shoot for Complex Magazine. Styling by Fruition, Photos by Jared Ryder, Make-up by the gorgeous Vasha, Hair by 2 wonderful people I forget the names of, and Modeled by Angela & Domenica. The locations, shots, and ensembles were all put together so well…definitely look out for the full shoot in the months to come.

Thanks to everyone for everything and making my Vegas experience priceless…
stay smooth…

So last week when you came through wondering where I was, I was in sin city - Las Vegas for the Magic Tradeshow. Even though I escaped the snow, I endured frustrating issues with the airlines, but nevertheless had a blessed time in Vegas. My stay proved to be worth the hard work, inspiring as always, and leaving me thankful for meeting and building with the people I connected with. Like I said… ‘08 is about a buttery takeover!!
Here’s a small taste of what I got into…

kept seeing this guy around…. brad who?!?!

Ate at basically Germany in Las Vegas. Basically a giant German sausage house that was actually a blast! (a yo)
People dance on tables…

Don’t you dare bite this move!

People get paddled after drinking shots….

What more can I say…

I even had a drink….NOT.

1 commentWhere were you in ‘91??
I was at my friend’s place watching the dunk contest thinking the Rain/Reign Man Shawn Kemp was about to destroy the competition…The Jet and Blue Edwards had no shot!! But to be honest…I never even heard of this kid Dee Brown. Before his first dunk I remember him having this charismatic grin on his face as he bent down to pump up his Omni Lites. Safe to say he had won me and countless others over with the gesture and went on to take the torch. Definitely one of the most memorable Slam Dunk Championship performances I’d seen at the time, and still holds up today, although I have to say Dwight Howard was incredible. I preferred the tap off the glass over the superman, but either way I want a poster of them.
Anyway, 15 years later we have the commemorative Pump Omni Lite - in it’s original colors, blindfold dunk hangtag, and insole pictured below. 1991 was the year - 1991 is the amount of these butters made….
