3Sixteen Holiday Delivery

December 24th, 2008 | Category: New Arrivals

With it being as busy as it’s been and the shop being packed on the regular…one thing we heard time and time again was - “oh after Christmas when I get money I’m coming in for that!”

9 times out of 10 the “that” was one of the exquisite cut & sew pieces from the 3Sixteen collection. I think what it comes down to is that for 2009, people mean business. This past year was a big one for most and people are gearing up to make ‘09 a strong one. The sophisticated state of mind to be stronger, healthier, and approach things gunning for success, couldn’t be better reflected in the style and construction of the garments that 3Sixteen is putting out there…and what our customers and ourselves are scooping up with ferocity.

Beginning with the basics - 3Sixteen’s t-shirt program remains top notch in comfort and quality, while delivering meaningful messages that also coincide with the mental posture of our nation.

The “Vortex” tee might convey some destruction to come - but gorgeous in graphic, it may also represent the beauty and one of the many miracles that occur in nature.

146.JPG

Also involving nature and growth is the “Reap What You Sow” t-shirt - which gives a typically threatening statement a more optimistic twist.

179.JPG 165.JPG

The “Fugitive” v-neck keeps things classy - even if you’re up to no good in these times…

107.JPG

Babylon Fall” needs no explanation with such an eloquent statement on the back. Green was chosen for a reason.

0621.JPG0731.JPG

And finally we have the “Skeleton Key“…which is something that helps one bypass the limits and locks ahead - it’s time to move through..

127.JPG

The cut & sew pieces are the definition of grown man business, where the sophistication and craft are at it’s premium.

The classy silhouette of the “Cardigan” gets the 3Sixteen treatment with use of a chic pinstripe fleece material with a grey paisley printed pocket lining. Button adjustable cuffs provide warmth and a look of royalty.

0491.JPG

The “Hooded Blazer” follows a suit-cut design in the shoulder construction and sports the pinstripe fleece in black, as well as a tonal paisley pocket square, in which the material is also used to line the inside of the sleeves and hood. Custom metal zipper pull, button cuffs at the sleeve opening, and aeroknit lined interior for warmth and breathability.

076.JPG

The “Utility Shirt” (available in both olive and charcoal) is utility at it’s finest. Snap ups available for short sleeve wear, and constructed in military grade, drable, cotton ripstop for every day…every occasion usage. Also features black pickaxe logo snap buttons, and black nylon smoothness on the inside of the cuff.

0371.JPG036.JPG

The “Button Up Jacket” is a totally unique piece in the black pinstripe fleece again. Lined with the super warm and comfortable aeroknit interior, the “Button Up Jacket” also features a 3 piece hood that peaks over your dome, and a high neck to guard your grill.

011.JPG

And then there’s the “Field Jacket” which is the creme de la creme - a jaw dropping piece of beauty. Sexy black speckled fleece, and plenty of zippers, pockets, and toggles to keep you busy. Detachable hood and easily the most comfortable winter jacket that ever kept anyone warm. Since my days of skiing have been long gone, I’ve been opposed to winter jackets…that is until I saw this bad boy.

Also - sincere thanks to Andrew at 3Sixteen for sending me the Dickson Hairshop/3Sixteen collaborative travel kit. I been dying to get away and put this to use - soon enough…. but the candle - which smells of something timeless and amazing, is getting regular burn. The travel kit is also available at the 3Sixteen webshop. Thanks again!!

“BRAINSCAN” MISHKA Movie Night

December 22nd, 2008 | Category: Events

Here’s a few pics from the MISHKA movie night last Saturday. “Brainscan” was a treat - an experience for everyone. Someone better go as Trixter for Halloween or my next movie character costume birthday.

Thanks to everyone who came out and especially MISHKA and L’amour Supreme for being a part of hopefully just the beginning of many more MISHKA movie nights. After dinner/party was a blast as well..unfortunately no pictures from that part are available. The MISHKA X Extra Butter shirt came out incredible, even made the Hypebeast weekly picks feature!! (there’s even a few left for those that slept)

Extra Butter “RATINGS SYSTEM” T-shirt

December 19th, 2008 | Category: New Arrivals

Back in the days when I was a teenager, before I had status and before I had a pager…. actually no - this was before I was even a teen, and actually never had a pager. My family and I would go see movies at the small theaters in Northport and Lindenhurst on Friday nights. Something I looked forward to every week until they closed down, but continued doing at larger multiplex’s and then independent theaters as I got older.

Something that always stood out to me was the ratings system and the various posters, or even the pre-coming attractions features letting everyone know this guide, or code to watching movies. Anything with limitations peaks my interest, but one poster that always stuck in my head is the animated one below.

original-rating-system-poster.jpg

When I originally met Sycko we shared a common interest in b-boying. I thought he was slightly strange and overly polite, and as time passed I discovered that we are both passionate about astrology and movies as well. We all eventually learned about the sewer world he lives in and also took a look inside when he showed us his “Rice Baby”, “Boris”, “Owl Guitar”, and other demented genius works of art. I couldn’t be happier about having Sycko, and everything he brings to the table, as part of the EB family. I knew right then and there, with his rich artistic skills, and undying love for characters and film, that we could finally work on re-creating an image from the past that I never let go of.

Many of you that recently visited have already applauded and marveled at the work that showcases our seating area inside the shop…and it’s now our pleasure to present to you the graphic illustration on our own Extra Butter t-shirt.

We may be surprised by what catches our eyes, especially during the holiday months. It is important to admire the effort and passion stores have in portraying the feeling of quality and comfort with their displays. Analogous to this, is the new “Get High, Stay High” collection from 10Deep. Always seeking to strive to a higher level and to give people that sensation with each of their collections.

Below is our “first ascent”…

MISHKA Movie Night - “BRAINSCAN”

December 16th, 2008 | Category: Events, Now Playing...

brainscan2.jpg

It’s our pleasure to announce that movie night at Extra Butter gets the MISHKA treatment!!

THIS SATURDAY - 12/20 at 7:30PM we’ll be showing John Flynn’s 1994 cult classic - “BRAINSCAN”

Read MISHKA’s “Brainscan” write up in their Top 10 Horror Movies Deserving more fans feature…

“A horror junkie searching for the next thrill finds one in the form of a new, terrifyingly realistic video game known as Brainscan! I’m sure you’ve probably passed this movie at the video store and just saw it as another blunder in Eddie Furlong’s career between T2 and Pecker, like Pet Sematary II (no. 21). Well, if you did, you’d be very, very wrong! Brainscan is what I’d like to think Paul Verhoeven (Total Recall, Robocop, Starship Troopers, and Showgirls) would make if he made a horror movie. Now, I’m not sure if director John Flynn and writers Andrew Kevin Walker & Brian Owens intentionally set out to follow in Verhoeven’s footsteps by exploiting cliches, camp, and over-the-top ridiculousness in an attempt to satire the very film they were making, or if the acting, script, and directing in this movie just kind of came together the way it did. I’d like to think everything is intentional, because it’s just so perfectly calculated not to be! And since Andrew Kevin Walker is also responsible for scripting such films as Se7en and 8mm, and Michael (Eddie Furlong) is a gore hound, I have to think that every little cheesy, cliche’d nuance in this tale is completely intentional. And don’t get me started on the teenage metal-head absurdity that is Trixter, the villain of the film. Brainscan is definitely the Showgirls of horror films, and if I have to explain what that means to you, then this film’s devices might just go over your head.”

**LIMITED EDITION MISHKA X EXTRA BUTTER X L’AMOUR SUPREME T-shirt Available at film screening!!**

Space is limited - please e-mail us or call to let us know you’re coming….movie night regulars, you know the deal - be on time, bring what you need to lounge and be comfy, and feel free to bring Alex fried oreos.

Married to the M.O.B. - QUICKIES

December 15th, 2008 | Category: New Arrivals

The M.OB. “Quickies” delivery is now available and to showcase some of the pieces we’ve received we teamed up with my most official bitch friend Sarah, for a little photoshoot. Sarah Barr SUPERSTAR not only dressed up as a “most official bitch” for Halloween, but is a good Gemini model, and a rock star extraordinaire. Check her songs and video footage here - www.myspace.com/sarahbarr

A little background on the delivery - I don’t think I have to get into the name of the collection, but to new M.O.B. fiends, the designs featured are heavy hitter classics from seasons past that have been re-issued and quickstriked for the Holidays. Dudes can pick up pieces that their girl (or someone else’s girl) may have slept on and make things merry.

VLNY - Black Friday Collection

December 13th, 2008 | Category: New Arrivals

So those of you who came through for our 1 Year Anniversary Party received a variety of gifts - EB Breakthrough Performance - 1 Year Anniversary tees, 10 Deep giveaways (what lucky bastards got the sweatshirts and fleeces!?), L’amour Supreme x Sycko Extra Butter Trick-or-Treat bag, our new pins, stickers, posters, laces, a treat on the dancefloor, your photo taken multiple times throughout the night, and pretty much just being apart of the party of the year!! :)

Well, that night..we received some gifts of our own, courtesy of the good folk at VLNY BRND. Ashdin blessed the EB crew with shirts from VLNY’s Black Friday Collection…which now also are available to YOU!!

The “Thieves in Law” shirt references the Russian mafia, in a story better explained by watching the movie the design is directly inspired from - “Eastern Promises” (those that stayed late the evening of our rained-out summer BBQ got to view this Cronenberg classic, and has become an EB favorite). Front and back print pictured below.

008.JPG021.JPG

Then there’s the “NY Murderers“. I’m going to go right ahead and ignore the dismal season the Isles are having so far (it’s still early, DiPi needs to come back and Bailey looks outstanding). What’s more important here is the the design itself, which again - talks the talk, and in all honesty…is probably one of the hardest tees I’ve seen all year. No surprise to the EB faithful - VLNY is just getting more murderous by the minute. Front and back print pictured below.

0261.JPG0401.JPG

Come through and rep - the collection is limited and will not be around for long…consider that an eastern promise from a NY murderer, muahaha!!

Best of the Best ‘08

December 12th, 2008 | Category: Now Playing...

Updated on SneakerFreaker recently was a feature on the best sneaker release of 2008. Yes, another year has finished, many teeth corroded, legs wangled, and sewers explored.

Select people were chosen to pick their favorite sneaker. Choices ran from New Balance to (my personal fave being that I am JAPANESE) Visvim, Nike, to PF Flyer.

One jerk chosen in particular is one of our own -  JASON, a new selvage recruit who runs EB top to bottom. His choice of the year was the Jordan 1 Velcro Lows. For many it’s a love/hate for the velcro’s, a new concept on a classic. But then again, Jay probably picked his choice using an astrological chart.

You can read the whole feature here.

What’s yours?
