The 3rd Team colored AJ 6 Rings for Michael’s “Road to the Championship” is here!!

In the ’92-’93 season MJ met up in the desert with Sir Charles for a much anticipated showdown with the Phoenix Suns. The shoe features the Suns colorway and graphics of a phoenix (the mythical bird), and Godzilla – taking a little shot at Barkley’s famed Nike ad campaigns. It was after this 3rd championship (and completion of the “three-peat”) that Michael shocked the world with the announcement of his retirement over the summer.

The Air Jordan Lifestyle goes the Fusion 6 route. Infamous infrared colored soul, and pearlized leather are it’s obvious highlights. What was a pleasant surprise was the semi-reflective white material on the SWOOSH and heel construct.

2 Air Jordan 1′s got the LS treatment as well, complete with matching crew neck, and super slick nylon, tonal print, half-zip anoraks.  The Jordan 1 High Premier is in a rare and outstanding “Pewter”colorway, giving it a metal monster look, while the AJ 1High Retro in Black/Max Orange, is rich in color and smooth with it’s nylon upper body.

and alas…the Air Jordan 2009!! Shedding the numbered series, but keeping consistent with the Jordan Brand look of superior design, and polished appearance. The 2009 was designed under the Nike “Considered” ethos, that also took inspiration from the refined, defensive, and super quick sport of fencing, which lends to the use of the metal mesh material featured. While the upper stays sexy in it’s panache leather, hologram jewel,  and pleated satin upper…it is the heel that contains the most prominent signs of progression.

The heel is constructed of  “Articulated Propulsion Technology”, which propels each step forward with explosiveness. The heel split design mixed with the carbon fiber usage, adds stability as you can keep a part of your foot always connected to the floor during multi-directional sliding and pivoting on the court. The blown glass inspired (marble looking) TPU chassis is designed to be unique for every pair of shoes…and there’s other little secrets you’ll just have to discover themselves.

The running craze in the 80′s brought footwear technology to the forefront. A perfect display of running superiority is showcased in the new Air Max 90 Current Moire from Nike. Just like its predecessor, the Current Moire features a piano roll sole in the forefoot, ensuring maximum flexibility for running and training.

The upper is incredibly smooth, simple, and sophisticated.

In 1989 the Nike Pegasus was introduced. This shoe is just as relevant today as it was when it was first introduced, because of its timeless aesthetics, and lightweight construction. It features vivid-blue hits on the tongue and heel…simple and clean.

The Air Max Tailwind , originally released in 1992 – featured a fixed neoprene sock-liner to the construction, helping to secure one’s foot. The visible air in the heel provides maximum comfort. The rest of the upper is comprised of thin mesh which helps with rising foot temperatures, and still makes your foot nice and cool when running.

A pollock-esque splattered mid-sole lends flavor to the overall simple color-way of this model.

“The running shoe of the future”, Adidas drops this ZX8000 featuring soft-cell technology and the”marathon ready” torsion system bar ensuring the best for mid-foot integrity. This color-way is absolute “1first quality1″ BUTTER.

Reebok brings us another Extra Buttery performance sneaker in the Sole-Trainer, which features Hex-ride to cushion the heel and a padded foam sock-line for comfort; not to mention an eye popping color-way. (the color is “bright coral” and similar to “infrared”)

Finally, two new color-ways courtesy of Aasics. The Gel-Lyte III is dressed up in Black-Grey-White (patent/mesh) and Black-Red-Grey (suede) and white (mesh). Split-tongue feature is still one of the most unique sneaker features to date.

Some special goodies just arrived from our friends at MISHKA!!

The “Bootleg Black Bart” tee gives the Mishka take on our new president, and a song even I have to admit I like – Young Jeezy’s  “My President is Black”. The design not only points to the song but takes inspiration from the “Black Bart” hype I used to bug my mom about back in the day. The image conjures up memories of shopping at flea markets and Chinatown, and please read “The Black Bart Phenomenon” feature on Mishka’s Bloglin, for a more storied spot on it’s legacy.

This one hurts the most – was a big Clyde “the Glide” fan…wanted nothing more but for him to win a championship with Rip City, but nooooooo…Mike had to go and show he can shoot from beyond the arch. To make matters worse, in the laser detailing there is Jordan’s silhouette shrugging, when he looked to the crowd after dropping one of his 6 first-half threes!! He not only set a record for most points in a half, but he pretty much destroyed anyone (like me), that still contended that Drexler was just as good. That was only game 1 too, and the rest is history…

Anyway, so the Road the the Championship continues with the classic white/black/red colorway for the BLAZERS. Suns, Sonics, and Jazz up next…

Hello lovebirds. The Friday Night Film Series at Butter are back!! We’re going with a sweeter approach this time around, but don’t get it twisted – we’re not showing “The Titanic”…although I can’t front, Leo and Kate were excellent in “Revolutionary Road”.

I can’t even bring myself to write a short synopsis about the films, I love them too much and would end up writing essays. I’ll leave it to you to do the research, or just come through and check ‘em for yourself, you know you’re in good hands with Sweet Butter…
