Whether it’s “Islanders vs. Rangers”, “Yankees vs. Red Sox”, or “Lakers vs. Celtics”…rivalry gains the attention of many and gives a close look into the composition of a team. In the fashion design world a rivalry is taking place between Cassette Playa and Parra, with the battleground platform being Nike Sportswear.

Each were given the brief instruction of creating their own fantasy sports team. Carrie Mundane (who we had the pleasure of meeting and enjoying Vegas with, back in February) took her Cassette Playa “Chimeras” to an aggressive, hyper-colored/hyper competitive level. “Mutant fusions of earth creatures…fearless and dedicated to winning. They have a two-sided brain competing against itself, caught in an infinite internal battle.”
This design philosophy was implemented into the clear swoosh, nylon upper Nike Dunk High Premium. A super soft organic cotton t-shirt with the team’s mixed-beast Chimera logo, and a Tech Bomber Jacket made of a lightweight, thermal insulated, water repellent shell is also available.

“Le Le” band member and illustrator/designer extraordinaire - Parra “Lovely Loners” approach the confrontation a bit differently. A positive attitude that stresses the importance of participation and efforts as the true marks of progress made. Parra’s team aesthetics were put into place on the Nike Considered Design team’s Air Maxim 1+.  The shoe boasts iTunes compatibility so you can synch up your stats when you run, and is comprised of nylon, suede, and flywire technology on the upper. The organic cotton t-shirt beholds typography of the team’s name, and the Tech Bomber Jacket is printed and embroidered with patchwork logos of the “Lovely Loners” slogans.
