Nike Air Force 1 “Doernbecher” by Tony Signorelli
In tradition of Nike’s Doernbecher Freestyle program which is in partnership with the Doernbecher Children’s Hospital that started in 2004 patients of the hospital get an opportunity to design their own unique styles of some of their favorite Nike sneakers. The best part of this program is that the proceeds of the sneakers sold go directly back to the Doernecher Foundation. This year’s Nike Air Force 1 just so happened to be designed by an 11 year old by the name of Tony Signorelli, and I’ve got to say that Tony killed it!
With a little assistance from legendary sneaker designer Tinker Hatfield young Tony Signorelli concocted one kooky Air Force 1. They started with the Team Orange upper and blended it the with Varsity Red to give it that blazing fire appeal.
But the coup de grâce would have to be the Metallic Gold Snakeskin swoosh that wraps the side panels. And for a final touch, on the toe-boxes of both sneakers you can find a laser engraving that states “Think Positive and Positive Happens” written across from left to right on the shoes.
Do remember that all Nike Doernbecher sneakers come in very limited quantity and these are no exception. So I wouldn’t wait too long to get your hands on a pair if I were you.
