This past Sunday Alex, Sycko and I made a last minute decision to check out our friends Quan and Mochadon downtown as they were hosting a “GOTHAM KAFE” event.

If you remember from the “HOLIDAYS” Visions 18 party we went to, this was pretty similar…art, fashion, snacks, treats, and good vibes to the max. There’s a lot more to say about how special the “Gotham Kafe” event is, but instead of using wordy descriptions I will just insist you experience for yourself. If you’re not sure how to find out about it, trust this blog…we’ll let you know.

In addition to all the aforementioned goodies associated with the event, we were treated to unforgettable performances by Kesed, Jeff Donna, Jersey Klan’s – OGM, and Moruf! When I say unforgettable, I mean so energetic and live that the feeling for all that were there is not something that will ever disappear. I hope in the near future to share with you the work of all the performers, but for now I’m going to share a little on Moruf.

What we witnessed with our first exposure the New Jersey emcee, was him ripping through a set of anthemic songs which had the audience rhyming along side of him every step of the way. A gift of lyrical pleasures through and through, I urge you to check out this video he and Jersey Klan did with Tone below…

HELLO! This was a nice surprise – the newest quickstrike from Air Jordan just touched down at the shop and caught us a bit off guard. People have had the AJ 12 itch as of late and what better way to satisfy the craving with a retro release of the Taxi lows!

Quality is supreme on these with the pebbled white leather/exotic black leather mix. The outsole is an obvious favorite and standout aspect of the XII’s unique design.

The CMFT class just stepped up to a whole new level…also available in kids sizes, the new Jordan CMFT Viz Air 13 is a retro turned runner winner! The standout elements from many people’s favorite Jordan 13′s – the dimpled mesh upper, with 3m reflective material underneath makes its way onto the upper of the CMFT Viz Air which seems to be a very natural fit on a running shoe. The full patent leather toe gives it a clean look that should draw comparison to the BRED Jordan 11′s…an association we ain’t mad at!

The latest Prime 5 resembles the original white/red/black Air Jordan 5 the most. The reflective tongue with the big red jumpman being the most obvious call out. And after a few releases the Prime 5 has gained a reputation for looking great on the foot and being extremely comfortable while it makes use of the “alpha”-outsole seen on Air Jordan 1 Alpha releases from about a year back. Another bonus – not only is the silver reflective, but the entire white upper is as well…

Another Jordan V.5 Grown Low also came in and screams to us that we’re ready for “shorts weather”, because these would definitely be the look. Khaki canvas, white bottom…that’s it. Nothing else needed.

Nike staples, as in Nike classics…the Air Max 95 and the Air Force 1. Perpetual Nike bangers that are living legends as they are permanently in the upper echelon of sneaker history, it’s always nice when brand new color variations hit the scene and add to the legacy.

For the Air Max 95 we see the same use of black with the standard gradient of grey. The accent color is a “bright mandarin” which has a look equal to it’s refreshing fruit counterpart.

The Air Force 1 is simple, but not quite. Varsity royal blue with white seems easy, but Nike adds some spice with an exotic leather lux-look material on the upper. A little something to stand out…

The Adidas Originals by Originals programs sees it’s first ladies only shoe to arrive for the Spring/Summer 11 collection, and comes by way of ballerina shoe designed by Jeremy Scott. The JS Ballerinas takes your basic ballerina slipper and fuses it with a wing design as seen on many of Jeremy Scott’s previous releases with Adidas. The wings give the ballerina silhouette an angelic and eye-popping look fit for the spring.

Last Friday night we headed back down to 350 Broadway in Brooklyn as Mishka hosted a special evening of magic. The show was called “STRANGE THINGS” and featured gifted magicians Matthew Holtzclaw and Prakash Puru. There were small animals, mind reading some freaky stuff about me, and even a little bit of awkward nakedness. I’ve been known to stumble into a magic shop whenever I see one and often get amazed into purchasing a card or coin trick here or there that I never quite master. Magic has always been something that impressed me, albeit frustrating since I never have no clue how the majority of it is done. Seeing Matthew and Prakash’s tricks up close and personal left me dumbfounded and mind blown.

The Mishka shop’s off the wall decor really fit the show’s “Strange Things” theme and complimented the show overall. If you missed out on either of the sold out shows, you shouldn’t have. But, make sure to check out the schedule at The PIT so you can check it yourself, but here’s a few pics we snapped at the event….
