Unless you’re a hip-hop nerd like myself, you may not be aware of New Jersey’s strong hip-hop lineage. From the late 80′s to the golden age, hip-hop icons such as Queen Latifah, Redman, and Artifacts put New Jeruz (as El Da Sensei likes to say) on the map. Fast-forward to modern day and you will see the same thing happening with the Garden State’s very own art/fashion/hip-hop collective, Jersey Klan, at the forefront.

Last Saturday night Extra Butter was lucky enough to have the Klan (OGM, Moruf, Hoddy, J. Philippe & more) come through for an intimate in-store performance celebrating the release of OGM’s new album, “Kool Kidz of Kolor”. If it wasn’t clear already, these guys are the real deal. Even when rapping in front of a small audience, these guys spit like the entire state of Jersey is on their back, with an energy and passion that seems to be a dying trait in today’s game.

Those who aspire to be in the game should start taking notes, but for now here’s some photographs of the Klan in action.

… and I swear a Metalfinger’s sample never sounded so good! Much respect to the whole crew.

The Lebron 9′s have a lightweight, court feel for ballers, and this is the perfect pair for the ladies to do their damage in.

It hasn’t been that long since the Air Max JR’s debuted back in the Spring – in it’s traditional Mariners-inspired colorway of freshwater/black/white. It’s about to be the dark days of winter, but the Air Max JR’s make a comeback and bring in the light! A dominantly reflective “3m” metallic silver upper gives these a clean look, all the while remaining fully functional as a runner/trainer show you can put to work with that cushy-360 air bag bottom. The reflective upper lets you venture out with these on at night, as light will shine super bright whenever it gleams towards these bad boys.

In addition – we’ve also received Nike Sportswear product that make for a nice fit. A Nike 5-panel cap and Super Runner jacket feature reflectivity to make the outfit complete. I wanted to highlight the t-shirts from G.P.P.R. Fall ’11 collection, as some of them can be seen in the Extra Butter “Official Selections” Fall 2011 Parts 1, 2, and 3, but let’s take a closer look….

Without a graphic by graphic description, you’ll see from the close ups that the Gentlemen, Philosopher, Pervert, Rebel-aesthetic communicated rather well.

We received a girls-only colorway of the Air Jordan 14 – the sleek, ferrari-inspired sneaker gets dipped in a special color up just for the ladies. A dominantly black upper with “desert pink” accents, the shoe’s sexiness also comes from the reptile leather hits on the medial and toe. These are women’s dunk high 6.0′s….the oxen brown with bi-color boot laces are fit for the season wouldn’t ya say? We received a black pair a few months ago, but this time the oxen brown color comes with the sherpa fleece material spilling out onto the upper heel as well.
