With official summer being about a week or so old at this point, it’s gotten to the point some days where it’s sweletering hot. And when two water signs get together – Jay (Pisces) & James (Cancer), you expect the two to head to the pool….not the case here. The two of us have been training for the ::warms up french accent:: Tour de France and biking just about every day.
While we both happen to think our bikes are pretty snazzy and stylish, we of course also vouch for our gear – much of which is from some of the recent Spring/Summer drops at the shop. Although I more than double young Arthur in age, we share not only a passion for bike riding, but for quality gear that speaks with rather loud volume. Here’s our breakdowns below…
Jay – I’ll take it from the top. We’re fresh off our “Martin” Snakeskin Jogger Pant collab with Publish, I’ve also been rocking another favorite of mine from them – their 5-panel caps. The Ralston 5-panel is a must-have for me regardless of current floral trend. This takes me back to growing up in the 80′s with floral print wallpapers, and even some of my streetwear beginnings copping floral print from Leroy Jenkins years ago. Publish hits us with a grip of 5-panels regularly, but this one happens to be my go-to, even if it involves sweating it up during a bike ride. Next would be the Scrimmage Jersey from our friends at Anmlhse. Anmlhse has been on fire lately creating excellent buzz with each and every drop of theirs. This simple style jersey reminds me of summers past and the bright red is a good way to make sure people see me riding around – special thanks to Jonny Rabbit for this one!!
On my back is another must-have, regardless of season is the Herschel Supply Co. Packable Daypack. I tend to not travel light, but I’m working on it. And when it comes to riding after work, I don’t keep too much with me. If I happen to stop at a shop and pick stuff up on the way I can easily convert the pack into a minimal backpack and throw it on. Who can’t use that!? And I can’t forget about my what’s on my wrist. “Talk to me Trick Daddy” (points for anyone who understands the reference), I’m sneak previewing my new favorite watch – “Burger Time” by Komono, the newest brand at the shop and something to look out for! For shorts I went with the Mishka Drug Rug Shorts in “Congo Blue”. The fabric/print have an international feel, and I’m not afraid of the short shorts as these bike rides have done well for my legs, haha!
Ending it with my feet – my love for Buried Alive should be apparent by now and I’ve been living in my pairs of “Bad Tooth” socks. They’re simple, fun, and remind me of the tooth doctor in Django Unchained. Wrapping things up is my favorite low top Adidas model to date, the Opening Ceremony x Adidas New York Run. Opening Ceremony came to the table with a mix of both tennis and running influences to create I’ve been finding difficult to take off my feet. Reflective laces are a plus and a sweet touch to this one-of-a-kind design.
James - With school coming to an end, the training for the Tour de France has increased greatly. This season you can catch me wearing various items from the shop that are a necessary to our training process. 5-panel caps seem to have the best aerodynamic structure when biking, so i picked the Publish “Seely” 5-panel for my head gear. For my torso, the ONLY “Sailing” tee is a nice piece for it’s super soft cotton and the fact that is another hobby of mine. Last but not least is the foot gear – I went back with ONLY for their “Track” socks and very comfortable for a long ride. My sneaker are the Hanon x Saucony Shadow Masters which bring the ulimaite grip and comfort for a rider. Thank you, and ride safely.
