Adidas “Japan Pack” – Zozotown, X-Large, MITA

April 26th, 2013 | Category: Adidas,Brands,New Arrivals

A cool 3-pack of shoes from Adidas, dubbed the “Japan Pack” – brings Adidas classic styles an interesting take as you’d expect. All 3 shoes have been done up by some of Japan’s best shops – Zozotown, X-Large, and MITA.

The Campus 80′s Zozotown take what seems like a basic navy suede Campus, but adds some crazy detailing with mixes of different “animal” textured fur, and snake skin stripes on the medial side. I’m a big fan of executions like this that are on the daring side, but appear rather subtle.

X-Large took the forever famous Superstar 80′s and gave it a “giraffe” print accents over a suede, with a dope nap to it. The entire shoe is interesting to the hand, but to the eye of course as well. Maybe “giraffe” print will have as strong a year as the snake and leopard prints did.

Mita – no stranger to sneaker collabs, comes back with a ZX8000 that looks as classic as ever. Fairly toned down compared to it’s other “Japan Pack” cohorts, the strength of this shoe is in it’s simplicity and clean detailing. A nice touch is the printed sockliner, which serves as a dedication to early 90′s DJ’s.

Adidas Originals x 84-Lab by Kazuki Kuraishi

March 19th, 2013 | Category: Adidas,Brands,New Arrivals

adidas Originals continues its ObyO line with another installment by Kazuki Kuraishi.  As of late, Kazuki has been working with friend and fellow designer, Takahiro Miyashita, to create 84-74 lab clothing line. So it was only natural for him to use his new project as inspiration for this season’s selection of adidas footwear.

The collection dons classic monochrome palettes of grey and navy on a variety of material applications.  Subtle to the naked eye, it’s KZK’s signature eye for detail and design saavy that results in amazing nuances.

First a Campus 80 with a mesh medial overlaying reflective silver stripes, similar to last year’s Kazuki x CLOT Superstars.  Next the ZXZ ADV made of nubuck, leather and canvas.  The cherry on top is the retrograde resistance patent leather hit on the forefoot.  As the shoe is worn in, the patent will also break in to reveal a distressed hue pattern unique to each wearer (consider it like raw denim).  The retrograde patent is taken to the max on the Torsion Allegra, composing the entire upper.  Break in the patent to reveal other classic hues of maroon and forest green.  These won’t sit on shelves long- and rightfully so, because these need to be worn and broken in for a one-of-a-kind look.

Adidas x Jeremy Scott S/S 13 Collection

March 15th, 2013 | Category: Adidas,Brands,New Arrivals,Now Playing...

In addition to the Adidas x Jeremy Scott Infants collection we previewed early this week, we also have adult pairs and apparel set to release tomorrow – Saturday, March 16th.

To show off the collection we had the pleasure of shooting our friend Kenzie Gallo in the gear. The apparel pieces in play are the “Leopard Hood”, a throw-over, shawl/hood piece that works wonderful as an accent accessory. We also received the “Face Swimsuit”, an eye-catcher and something that captures the Jeremy Scott aesthetic well for the beach, or even paired with some shorts and worn as a top.

Footwear-wise, the bear silhouette makes it’s return, this time all cover as the “Camo Bear”, which is being regarded as the best reiteration of the “bear” model to date. Also, receiving high acclaim would be the new Wings 2.0 – a black/patent iridescent version, which can be dressed up rather well, and turn heads with the subtle color changing going on as the shoe is viewed in different lights. A slide is back in the mix for the warmer months ahead, this time as the JS Flames Slide – an easy go to for the summer!

Big buttery thanks to Kenzie for doing her thing and making these unique pieces look even better! Also, be sure you follow her instagram & facebook!

The Adidas x Jeremy Scott “Camo Bear”, “Wings 2.0″, and “Flame Slide” will be available tomorrow in-store and online.

Opening Ceremony x Adidas Crazy 8 Tennis

March 14th, 2013 | Category: Adidas,Brands,New Arrivals

As if Opening Ceremony couldn’t push the fashion boundary any more when it comes to their collection with Adidas, they now take on one of Adidas’ iconic basketball sneakers and create a new silhouette- the Crazy 8 Tennis.

The Crazy 8 belongs to that crazy athlete who used to wear #8, but has since made a departure for a new #24, likely a subtle one-up to the legendary #23 we all know. Moving on from these numbers, the Crazy 8 was always regarded as one of the most unique in design and incredibly comfortable on the foot. Opening Ceremony adds in some of the striping seen in yesterday’s post of the Rod Laver High Vintage pairs, and some rather bold color blocking.

As the Crazy 8 Tennis, the shoe now also features a forefoot strap, something commonly implemented into tennis shoes to add extra support and structure for the lateral movements required to run the baseline side to side. Both pairs include laces with reflective accents woven in, and the Opening Ceremony again appearing on the heel in a sharp, metallic gold. This will likely work it’s way into your wardrobe as one of the most unique and rare pairs that you own, be something that will amplify any outfit you put together!

Opening Ceremony x Adidas – Rod Laver High Vintage

March 13th, 2013 | Category: Adidas,Brands,New Arrivals

We continue the release of a supreme joining of fashion moguls – Opening Ceremony and Adidas. This time around, the 2 brands come together in as classy as possible by touching on the incredibly sleek and sexy, Rod Laver Hi Vintage!

I know people like to stack sneaker boxes that are meant to satisfy youthful nostalgia and break the necks of onlookers, never underestimate the need for classic. While original Rod Lavers may not be part of many of the younger generation’s sneaker lineage, it would be a mistake to overlook the Rod Laver’s place in sneaker history as one of the simplest and classiest profiles that ever made it on feet.

Opening Ceremony capitalizes off the Rod Laver’s High Vintage’s mature look by dressing it up in buttery leather, so smooth to the hand, in 2 perfect pairs of all white or all black. Opening Ceremony adds elegance with their gold embossed logo on the side and gold accents by way of the shoe’s eyelets and Adidas trefoil logo on the top of the tongue. If anyone plans to come in and try these on I encourage you to wear it with not only clean pairs of denim, but suit pants and other dressy pants options that I know these will go flawless with.

If you’ve got that clean and classy look covered in your wardrobe then consider the third color – a Rod Laver High Vintage featuring vertical stripes that are split at a midpoint of the upper and divide orange and blue from green and yellow stripes. The striping gives the upper a unique, almost optical illusion-like appearance and sits rather nice on top of the black sole. Another pair with much class, but with that little extra something. While each pair may suit a different occasion, you can’t go wrong with any of the three, and if you happen to be digging the stripe application to the third pair, well you’ll likely appreciate 2 more pairs of Adidas x Opening Ceremony that will pop up here tomorrow!

Adidas x Ransom – Tech Moc

March 13th, 2013 | Category: Adidas,Brands,New Arrivals

One of Canada’s lead fashion purveyors is back with another collab with Adidas. This one has caught a lot of people’s attention and has become favorite at the shop as it’s currently sitting atop our shop’s glass case.

Ransom brings in a premium suede moc, complete with fine stitching for the toe construction and the Ransom logo debossed towards the back. The most unique feature is the midsole, which is what makes this a “Tech Moc”, giving your basic moccasin a supportive and athletic-based outsole. While the design definitely lends well for comfort, it happens to be a great pairing, making for an original look we haven’t seen before. I’m sure these will be really versatile for the Spring/Summer season ahead…

Adidas x Jeremy Scott Camo Bear & Wings 2.0 Infants

March 12th, 2013 | Category: Adidas,Brands,New Arrivals

On our instagram yesterday we posted a pic of our friend Annie coming by to visit. She seemed to have made friends with the Adidas x Jeremy Scott Poodles. They spent some of the afternoon talking about the weather, training for the Westminster Dog Show, and the rest of the Adidas x Jeremy Scott collection of course!

Annie had a great idea to get some more of our pet friends in the mix, so I reach out to our 2 hot model friends, Roo & Morticia. I thought their size would be able to show scale on how little and adorable the new Adidas x Jeremy Scott infants shoes were, and they clearly add value to the cute factor.

This is also a preview of things to come with adult size pairs on the way of both the “Camo Bear” and “Wings 2.0″. The “Camo Bear” is the soft plush feel you’ve come to expect, this time also getting a khaki cap w/ the Adidas trefoil logo. The “Wings 2.0″ happens to be an all black patent leather with an iridescent sheen to it that looks different colors when seen at different angles.

These shoes make the best gifts and make cool kids even cooler, if you need them now be sure to let us know. We’ll be posting the rest of the Adidas x Jeremy Scott collection later in the week so stay tuned for that!

Adidas x Jeremy Scott Wings (Adults & Infants) “Rainbow Hologram”

March 07th, 2013 | Category: Adidas,Brands,New Arrivals

While his name is bubbling with a bit of controversy and drama these days, I’ll speak for myself and say it does not change my opinion on Jeremy Scott. I’m not defending his actions, but simply put – I’ve always been a big fan of the way he operates and designs boundlessly…a creative freedom I find rare, and wish more individuals could share.

Moving onto the shoes, and in addition to the 3 pairs we received earlier this week, a new set of Adidas x Jeremy Scott Wings has come in. The upper is a lot to digest, with an upper being dubbed “Rainbow Hologram” which fuses colors in a cool way that I remember I used to see on stickers growing up. Each panel of the shoe is embedded with the whole spectrum of colors as are the bold detachable wings on the side. The outsole is translucent and has a minimal glitter effect to it, and best of all…these Wings are also available in adorable infant sizes as well!

Adidas Jeremy Scott – Spring/Summer 2013

March 05th, 2013 | Category: Adidas,Brands,New Arrivals

Regardless to what many would say about Jeremy Scott’s stand-out & stand-alone shoes he has a huge following from both the fashion & sneaker world. Jeremy Scott & Adidas repeatedly have come out with releases that seem practical at times and outrageous in others. No matter the outcome or opinions that others have, Jeremy Scott is a bright, unique person, and does whatever he wants with the shoes and he’s here to stay.

For this year’s Spring/Summer ’13 collection with Adidas he hits the mark of being conservative with a bit of splash, outrageous stand-out, and even a mixture of both. The first of the 3 styles that have rolled into the store are the Nizza Jagged. For the most part it seems like your basic canvas high-top with a classic look that both people in the sneaker culture and ones that aren’t can identify with, but once you turn the shoe you can make out the jagged edge that sticks out and gives off the feel of that the shoe is in motion.

The second of the 3 is the JS Poodle with it’s vibrant pink color and dog head’s rocking shades. 100% positive that heads will turn and you’ll be the talk of the town in with this pair.

Last but not least is the JS Letters! What you can call the “best of both worlds” with it’s classic look, and big “ADIDAS” lettering going across both shoes. These allow for an over-the-top feel without straying too far away from keeping it simple.

Adidas Originals x Opening Ceremony Spring/Summer 13

February 27th, 2013 | Category: Adidas,Brands,New Arrivals

There are many things we love about Adidas. Their never ending epitome of classic is one of them well shared. The other would be these outstanding collections they curate year after year, working with the world’s best designers to give classic Adidas product, a whole new and exciting life.

If you’re not familiar with Opening Ceremony, I’ll do my best to give a little synopsis. Opening Ceremony encompass art, fashion, and business in an envelope pushing way that has created not only a signature brand to the way they do things, but also an unmatched aesthetic that they boldly claim as their own. Through their retail stores and special projects, Opening Ceremony has managed to provide something unique and experiential to the marketplace, through an international lens. The name Opening Ceremony is derived from the Olympic Games, something us “Everyday Champions” here at Extra Butter are all too familiar with, and fans of as well. Opening Ceremony has curated in-store collections inspired by the fashions and lifestyles of various countries from around the world, and also have collaborated with notable creatives such as Maison Martin Margiela, Chloe Sevigny, Pendleton, and Spike Jonze.

Now they team up with Adidas, with Spring/Summer pieces that draw from 2 sports – running and tennis. The result is a new fusion of athletic prowess with a high fashion twist. The apparel pieces are blocked with bright hues and made of the finest materials ready for courts, tracks, and of course runways. The shoes are just as versatile with the 2 colors of the eye-catching New York Run’s, and a fun version of the EQT Trail. Each piece is nowhere short of details and elements that make it 100% premium and unique, from 3m reflective laces to removable sockliners, to their signature print that pushes forward a new take on leopard/cheetah and camo.
