Guns Germs Steal – Spring/Summer ’13 Collection!
Guns Germs $teal is back! Since the start of the year, this has been on of our most highly anticipated collections to arrive at the shop, and when you view all the pieces below you’ll see why.
With inspiration ranging from the alleyways of Venice Beach, to post-war destruction – the girls at GG$ have created a one-of-a-kind collection with unique pieces, only the way Guns Germs $teal can. With the season’s influence and aesthetics in mind, we took a trip to Long Beach, a favorite and staple summer hangout in Long Island, but now also a site of the ruins left from the aftermath of Hurricane Sandy.
Make sure you check the whole collection below, but here let me touch on some of the highlights – The “Atom Bomb” print on the crewneck and both “Varsity Button Ups” are a standout for it’s tailoring and unique print application. There’s also a “Souvenir Jacket”, a jacket Japanese craftsmen would tailor to mark American soldiers with, that has been re-appropriated into a silk and reversible track suit style jacket. The matching “Souvenir Track Pants” are also available for perhaps the best and boldest piece available. Lastly, the “Shelter” shirt and shorts set (available separately) in the “Benjamin” print is just tooo money, there’s no other way to say it!
Guns Germs Steal – Spring/Summer ’13 collection is now available in-store & online.
Love to our friends BND & Sasha for helping us out w/ the shoot!!

No commentsEB’s Staff Picks: Jay’s “Official Selections”
Well, well….looks like I’m up to bat.
This has been a fun thing for us at the shop. A long table became empty at the shop while shifting around something and re-merchandising, and thus this little “Staff Picks – Official Selections” feature was born. My cohorts have done a fine job putting their personal favorites together, making for ‘fits, that have been catching people’s eyes and giving a bit more insight to our individual personalities, styles, and tastes. Here are the details for my “official selections”…
I start with my favorite piece currently in the shop – the Low Rider crewneck by one of our newest brands, Guns Germs $teal. I’ve been pining over this since last February when I saw this at the Magic Tradeshow, but when we got our first shipment my size was unavailable (I need to ride my bike more, I know), so instead I was left simultaneous pleased and tortured as I would regularly see my better half, Jacquie rocking this gem regularly. The photo is cinematic and the print process is just unbelievable. Truly nothing like this piece in my closet….my anxiously awaiting closet.
I paired the Low Rider love of my life, with the Rupert Vest from Publish – a piece that honestly, did not catch my eye at first, until I saw it on and watched the garment take shape. A new life was given to this piece as when tried on, one can see it’s versatility off the bat. It appeals on a woodsman-like level, as most vests tend to do, but the tweed shoulder pieces and cozy collar that sit above the brown cotton canvas body give it a Fall/Winter charm that can be dressed up for dinner parties, Holiday festivities, acting as a subtle blend of rustic and refined. Ultimately, the kind of contrast I prefer with my style as I chose to mix it with the striking imagery that covers the Low Rider crewneck.
Sitting directly below would be another Publish piece, the Crewnshaw Denim in solid black. Publish has been the store staple, when dealing with pants as their versatile cuts and overall quality have won us (and many of our customers) over fully. I chose the black for a simple, yet murdered-out statement for what else the outfit offers and speaks. And with no link embedded to the Crewnshaw Denim’s description, I am proud to tell you that it was not an oversight on my part. That piece is fully sold out as today, not only did that pair of pants sitting on the table get picked up, but so did the 2 other piece I previously described. While the pants are gone we’re down to 1 piece left in the crewneck and 2 in the vest. Basically, I’m winning – and so are the stylish folks that picked my picks!
As we journey further down the outfit, I also chose to keep with the murdered out vibe alive with the Jeremy Scott x Adidas Instinct Hi. For Jeremy Scott, this is subtle…but the shoe has a throwback aesthetic and one of the meaner looking shoes to stomp around in for it’s chunkiness, bold branding, and super simple black/white colorway. I decided to have a little fun with what’s inside as I chose a pair of Cranston polka dot socks with serape-looking stripes by Stance. The Stance socks have turned into an everyday obsession for me, so I highly recommend making the move and treating your feet as soon as possible.
Finally, to top off what took shape as a rustic roughneck outfit of mine, I chose the brand new Marshes Snapback by ONLY. This was an easy choice for me as I’ve always been a fan of camo (regardless of current trend) and I felt it helped tell the overall story of my outfit just right! Thanks for reading…

Earlier in the summer we gave you a very short taste of one of the most exciting brands that we’ve brought in in a while, with the Robert Yager photos tees by Guns Germs Steal. Now with the Fall season upon us, we’ve received their latest collection, with a healthy variety of pieces for any true individual.
I’ve been hyping this brand up a lot if you follow our tweets, but as you can see from the clothing and accessories below…it’s exciting stuff! Many elements of the owners, Smiley & Philippa, are visible in each piece’s aesthetics giving the feeling of Los Angeles – where they are based out of, New York – where they went to school, all in a gangster/high fashion unique way that GG$ is rightfully making their own.
Take a look at these photos – and get down to the shop to gear up with GG$ now so you can say you’ve always been down, because this brand is doing it!

No commentsEB Debut: Guns Germs $teal – Robert Yager photo t-shirts!
I love when we bring in new brands. I get the same excitement going to a movie on opening weekend, which by the way, we just saw Headhunters…intense! But, with obnoxious opening night movie goers and the lack of 1First Quality1 brands out there…that “excitement” I speak of, is very rare. Thankfully, I lack none of it now as we’re set to debut and welcome out newest brand to the shop – GUNS GERMS $TEAL, from Los Angeles, California!!
Now typically, I’d kind of give you our own intro and insight to what GG$ is all about, and what you can expect in the seasons to come…but the first pieces we’ve received – collaborative t-shirts shot by LA based photographer, Robert Yager, serve as an accurate glimpse, albeit a tease, to what GG$ has in store for you!
So take a look at the 2 t-shirts in the photos below that Amy took of our friend Tak, and if you are within range please stop by to check the amazing overall quality of these tees, and get your popcorn ready for that Guns Germs $teal!
