New Balance 574 Camo Pack

May 29th, 2013 | Category: Brands,New Arrivals,New Balance

The camo-craze continues, and this time the New Balance 574 takes a crack at camo with 2 pairs that use camo in a way that should keep everyone happy.  Both pairs mix a summer-friendly mesh with quality suede we’ve come to expect from New Balance, while each gets accent colors that set the shoe off. The camo is done with a nice touch, very minimal on the upper, but seen on the full ride of the midsole. The “Camo Pack” 574′s do an incredible job of looking earthy, but maintaining a summery-vibe with it’s color story and material execution. Sure to set off any pair of shorts in your closet!

New Balance M998GGO and M996RRG

April 23rd, 2013 | Category: Brands,New Arrivals,New Balance

More New Balance just arrived and as you can see right on the tongue and on the tags attached – these are Made In USA product! Quality here is just amazing and these are 2 of the best colors I’ve seen of both models, the 998 and 996. Both pairs mix all the elements that you’d want in the perfect running shoe – buttery suede, reflective panels, and breathable mesh.

While not always a standout on the foot, there’s an inherent pleasure New Balance wearers own, not just for knowing that what they wear is made in the very country they’re prideful of, but because the comfort level and craftsmanship are off the charts and appealing to a more sophisticated consumer. See for yourselves if you haven’t already…

New Balance 574 Windbreaker Pack

April 11th, 2013 | Category: Brands,New Arrivals,New Balance

If you grew up in the 80′s and early 90′s you should be totally accustomed to or at least remember the bright colors of those days. But not only was it bright colors, but it was the swishy sounds of neon colored windbreakers, that brought wardrobes and workouts a bright new life.

I was into this style regardless, but as a b-boy a windbreaker always seemed like a must have for the floor as well. With windbreakers from this era as the inspiration for the latest grip of New Balance 574′s, you can bet I was excited to snap some pics and write about them.

The ML574WPP is a nice royal blue with neon yellow accents throughout, while the ML574WPG (available in women’s as well) is a silver base with infrared and neon blue pops. Both shoes are constructed with the use of a nylon material often used on windbreakers. New Balance ups the ante, by utilizing ripstop nylon for added strength. On the back, the heel tab is reflective “3m”, so you can be spotted from behind, a dope touch for sure.

New Balance April releases

April 10th, 2013 | Category: Brands,New Arrivals,New Balance,Now Playing...

New Balance summer releases are in full swing now with the shelves stocked with a bunch of styles we’re all pretty juiced about.

We begin with the ML999RTB Elite Edition. With the Mets off to a good start, the Islanders surging in the playoff race, and the Knicks winning their division and 13 straight games, fans of the orange & blue should be quick to pick a pair of these. There’s no shortage of materials on this bad bod, with a nice ripstop nylon on the back, and just a bit of orange peeking out here and there. As New York as it gets…

We couldn’t resist bringing another 1600 into the mix. The CM1600R has a grey base, with a moss suede upper, and a dash of mustard yellow. Earth tone-ish and wonderful. While just about every 1600 that comes out is spot on, this in particular is my favorite, as it puts to use a color palette that doesn’t get run enough.

You should be familiar with New Balance’s Made in the U.S.A. program by now. A sector of New Balance’s business dedicated to bringing high quality craftsmanship, and jobs to our fellow Americans. The M1300GGB is an incredibly smooth mix of navy and dusty, sort of slate-like blue/greys…too buttery. You can see towards the heel of the shoe where my hand was holding the shoes and how the nubuck changes in hue as it’s brushed by one’s hand. This is the type of execution we love!

Lastly, another “elite edition” by way of the CM1500RG. Nailing the red and grey as they usually do, this suede, mesh, and leather 1500 also flashes an all reflective “3m” tongue. One of New Balance’s most comfortable and popular models never looked so simple and amazing!

New Balance Classic 1300 & 996

March 01st, 2013 | Category: Brands,New Arrivals,New Balance

Within sneaker community there’s certain colors that you see over and over being re-implemented on different shoes, and I’m not saying there’s anything wrong with the classics, if it ain’t broken don’t fix it, but that’s also not saying that unique colors like these New Balance burnt-citrus 1300′s and purple 996′s aren’t a breath of creative fresh air. The 1300′s silhouette is a perfect canvas for creative and different colors like this burnt-citrus, and clearly didn’t disappoint in the execution. The leather heel tab adds textural as well as color contrast to the predominately suede sneaker. Moving on to the 996′s draped in some purple suede which I’ve never seen before. Accented well with some silver hits on the heel tab and upper, including the signature New Balance “N”.
Whether you’re looking for some uniquely colorful kicks or just some serious comfort, we all know New Balance never disappoints. And for those of you knew to the New Balance world, I definitely recommend stopping in and trying a pair on, you’ll see what all the hype is about.

New Balance – Classics 574, 1600, 998, 999

February 24th, 2013 | Category: Brands,New Arrivals,New Balance

New Balance’s growing popularity has been a hot topic of discussion in the shop amongst those of us who work here and all the people who stop by.  With this popularity comes some exciting new colorways in all sorts of models, some of which we’ve seen, others which we haven’t seen in a minute…

The 574 is a staple in New Balance’s catalog, but the use of a rip-stop nylon is not as frequently seen.  These “windbreaker” models come in an awesome black/purple/orange colorway, as well as a NY-friendly blue/orange combination.

We’ve already got a nice pair of 1600s in the store, but this colorway is entirely different and gives it an entirely new look.  The light blue in addition with the light grays look perfect for a simple night out or kicking it with a bunch of friends.  I’ve noticed people who are just getting into New Balances gravitating towards this model, so if you’re just starting this might be the pair for you.

The 998 is a model I have yet to see in the store, but I’m looking forward to receiving more of.  A bit more of a classic look, this is definitely a great pair for those who have been onto New Balance for a minute, as well as those looking to add a classic runner to their collection.

The 999 is described by New Balance themselves as a “a piece of athletic heritage”, and rightfully so.  The unique C-Cap mid-sole provides extra comfort and support, adding to the already expected comfort from New Balance.

Our wide selection of New Balances have been disappearing little by little.  Come by before they’re all gone…

New Balance X Herschel Supply Co.

February 12th, 2013 | Category: Brands,Herschel Supply Co.,New Arrivals,New Balance

One of the most exciting collaborations finally arrived at the shop – a capsule collection by two of our favorite brands, New Balance and Herschel Supply Co.!

In addition to Herschel’s simplistic and dependable bags, the Heritage backpack and Novel duffle bag come correct in 3 basic colors – black, red, and navy. The bags’ signature cotton/poly fabric with suede accents are matched, along with their signature paisley prints, on 2 different New Balance silhouettes. Both the New Balance 420 and 710 are offered in the same 3 color offering to match the Herschel Supply Co. aesthetic, featuring all the aforementioned material details on these classic New Balance silhouettes. The 420 is the definition of “casual” appealing to many on a simplistic level, but with just the right touches of personality to separate itself from the pack. The 710 is a model ready for outdoor wear, with metal D-ring eyelets, waxed laces, and the same fabrication already spoke about all rolled into an amazing collaboration of brands.

The Novel duffle bag is a store favorite. Awesome pricepoint with all the qualities we NEED in a duffle bag. While that certainly includes durability and style, the side shoe compartment is perfect and speaks so well to us here. The Heritage backpack is no short of details either with suede accents, leather zipper pulls, internal media pockets, and laptop/tablet sleeve. Throw in those comfortably padded shoulder straps and Herschel leaves you looking for nothing more in a backpack.

The entire New Balance x Herschel Supply Co. collection is available now and can be viewed as individual pieces in our webstore here.

New Balance CM1600RK

February 04th, 2013 | Category: Brands,New Arrivals,New Balance

The New Balance 1600 is one of the favored models when it comes to their retro runners. The upper is a mix of mesh and suede while the collar lining interior sports a plush velvet-like feel which is just making the comfy even more comfortable. Mixing red, black, and greys never hurt anyone either…the opposite in fact, as many of us can say we’ll forever be into that colorway. If you haven’t given the 1600′s a try, this makes for a welcoming intro…
