EB’s Staff Picks: Dan’s “Official Selections”

December 14th, 2012 | Category: Brands,G.P.P.R.,Nike,Only NY,Stance

So its my turn to take a crack at this. Strategically waiting patiently until I felt I could assemble the best outfit so far. And I think I’ve done that here! Kickin’ it off with the “Handsome Devils Tee” by G.P.P.R., this tee is definitely a favorite of mine from their new Holiday line. The dark green with the vintage looking black type really conveys a sick retro army style. The black lettering is executed perfectly with the sophisticated script design, and everyone knows that black and that army green always work well together.

The tee is awesome, but as we approach the winter weather, it’s a necessity to bring a jacket with you, and what better one than this “Harrow Twill Jacket” by G.P.P.R. The cheetah print was very prominent in this seasons G.P.P.R. line and what can you expect when it looks sick on every piece and was executed perfectly. The brown leather collar and its military-like cut, really make this a unique piece that works so well with the tee underneath. And for those of you who may be a little reluctant to cop a piece with this much cheetah, I gotta say, once you try it on and check it out, you’ll be sold!

Moving down to the pants, the “Les Twill Trousers” are yet another G.P.P.R. piece, and are probably one of my favorite fits when it comes to pants. The tapered leg and the removable pockets on the back add a creative and stylish element that I haven’t seen on pants before. The khaki color works well with the cheetah print that reveals when you cuff the leg opening, and  it goes perfectly with both top pieces.

Continuing down to the feet, we got the Air Max 90 Premium with the “Boss” Stance socks. Being a huge Air Max fan, these Cargo Khaki/Steel Green 90′s were a no-brainer for this outfit. And of course it doesn’t just stop at the sneakers, lately it’s been all about the socks, and these Stance socks are no exception! As a signature model to renowned skater – Andrew Reynolds, these are super comfortable with padding and cushion needed for skating or just staying relaxed throughout the day. Not to mention the color way is awesome too! A vintage striped sweater comes to mind and looks amazing with the 90′s.

At the top of the outfit we have the Only NY “Pines Polo Hat” in burgundy, a sick color with a “Pines” logo which is one of my favorites from Only. The brass buckle on the back is a nice quality accent that really works well with the over all color and feel of the hat.

Lastly we have the Canby Shwood sunglasses made from “santos mahogany” wood. It’s good to see a new style make its way to the shop and it’s even better that it’s these. The stain on these is ridiculous and creates a subtle red hit that works well with the Only hat, while the brownish tone also compliments the cheetah prints of the jacket and pants nicely as well. So there are my picks, and I gotta say that you should just come in and get the outfit as a whole because I can’t promise that pieces this hot are gonna stick around for long!

EB’s Staff Picks: Jay’s “Official Selections”

December 05th, 2012 | Category: Adidas,Brands,Guns Germs $teal,Publish,Stance

Well, well….looks like I’m up to bat.

This has been a fun thing for us at the shop. A long table became empty at the shop while shifting around something and re-merchandising, and thus this little “Staff Picks – Official Selections” feature was born. My cohorts have done a fine job putting their personal favorites together, making for ‘fits, that have been catching people’s eyes and giving a bit more insight to our individual personalities, styles, and tastes. Here are the details for my “official selections”…

I start with my favorite piece currently in the shop – the Low Rider crewneck by one of our newest brands, Guns Germs $teal. I’ve been pining over this since last February when I saw this at the Magic Tradeshow, but when we got our first shipment my size was unavailable (I need to ride my bike more, I know), so instead I was left simultaneous pleased and tortured as I would regularly see my better half, Jacquie rocking this gem regularly. The photo is cinematic and the print process is just unbelievable. Truly nothing like this piece in my closet….my anxiously awaiting closet.

I paired the Low Rider love of my life, with the Rupert Vest from Publish – a piece that honestly, did not catch my eye at first, until I saw it on and watched the garment take shape. A new life was given to this piece as when tried on, one can see it’s versatility off the bat. It appeals on a woodsman-like level, as most vests tend to do, but the tweed shoulder pieces and cozy collar that sit above the brown cotton canvas body give it a Fall/Winter charm that can be dressed up for dinner parties, Holiday festivities, acting as a subtle blend of rustic and refined. Ultimately, the kind of contrast I prefer with my style as I chose to mix it with the striking imagery that covers the Low Rider crewneck.

Sitting directly below would be another Publish piece, the Crewnshaw Denim in solid black. Publish has been the store staple, when dealing with pants as their versatile cuts and overall quality have won us (and many of our customers) over fully. I chose the black for a simple, yet murdered-out statement for what else the outfit offers and speaks. And with no link embedded to the Crewnshaw Denim’s description, I am proud to tell you that it was not an oversight on my part. That piece is fully sold out as today, not only did that pair of pants sitting on the table get picked up, but so did the 2 other piece I previously described. While the pants are gone we’re down to 1 piece left in the crewneck and 2 in the vest. Basically, I’m winning – and so are the stylish folks that picked my picks!

As we journey further down the outfit, I also chose to keep with the murdered out vibe alive with the Jeremy Scott x Adidas Instinct Hi. For Jeremy Scott, this is subtle…but the shoe has a throwback aesthetic and one of the meaner looking shoes to stomp around in for it’s chunkiness, bold branding,  and super simple black/white colorway. I decided to have a little fun with what’s inside as I chose a pair of Cranston polka dot socks with serape-looking stripes by Stance. The Stance socks have turned into an everyday obsession for me, so I highly recommend making the move and treating your feet as soon as possible.

Finally, to top off what took shape as a rustic roughneck outfit of mine, I chose the brand new Marshes Snapback by ONLY. This was an easy choice for me as I’ve always been a fan of camo (regardless of current trend) and I felt it helped tell the overall story of my outfit just right! Thanks for reading…
