Some shoes that release, just happen to play right into our extra buttery hands. If you know us by now, you’ll know we’re pretty into movies, but Quentin Tarantino’s “Kill Bill” happens to be near and dear to our hearts. A cinematic masterpiece on every level I can think of, Kill Bill 1 & 2, nails every thing I love about cinema from it’s characters, story line, genre tributes, soundtrack, and even the film’s fashion and overall look.

A cameo appearance in the film, the Asics Onitsuka “Tai Chi” was the shoe of choice for Uma Thurman’s character The Bride, as she took on her villains and foes. The Asics Gel Saga in yellow/black with bits of blood speckle is a perfect tie back to the film’s heroine, and a must-have for any fans of Kill Bill.

In celebration of this release and the 10 Year Anniversary of Kill Bill, we will begin to tell the story by releasing the shoes in-store – Thursday, May 2nd at 7:00pm and showing the film at the shop at 8:30pm!!

The Asics Gel Saga “Kill Bill” will be available in our online store Friday, May 3rd at 11:00am.

Just past the midway point of April…and amongst dead leaves, rain showers, it also happens to be National Poetry Month!! What better time for us to bring back one of our most successful events – poetry night!

Dead Poets Society 2: “Prose & Con” – will be taking place Friday, April 26th @ 9pm at the shop! The vibe that evening last Fall was a blessing to the shop and all of those involved. An incredible display of self expression, spoken word, and unmatched spirit…this time around looks like it will be even better!

This is probably one of the greatest retro’s I can possibly think of…that’s all that really needs to be said – the Reebok Shaq Attaq is back!!!

If you’re not old enough to remember Shaquille O’Neal coming into the NBA, it was like “oh cool, there’s a real live monster in the league now!”. I remember being a kid and thinking that Shaq was the biggest human being I had ever seen. Manute Bol doesn’t count, although he was a lot taller, Shaq was solid, agile, and was quickly taking the NBA by storm dunking balls through nets in a way that made you feel bad for both the players posterized and the entire basketball hoop structure as well.

P.S. – I remember watching this game on Sportschannel or whatever it was, live at the time….UNREAL!

Although, Shaq Diesel was a terror on the court, he also had a million dollar smile and even better personality. One of the most funny, charming, and charismatic personalities in the world, let alone on the basketball court. You’re likely familiar with Shaq’s decorated career and the many accolades he has accrued through his playing days, but keep in mind, Shaq was larger than life – starring in many movies (in addition to HBO’s ‘Curb Your Enthusiasm’) and even releasing a string of successful rap albums. Shaq was as big a part of our culture as can be for a solid 2 decades, and continues to be in the limelight with his commentary on TNT, as well as being a spokesman for various companies. So glad our dreams have come true with the incredible return of the Shaq Attaq’s — be sure to stay tuned for what else is in the pipeline from one of Reebok’s best and biggest athletes ever!

Announcing new brands is always exciting…but to bring a new brand in from an old friend is especially dope.  If you are an OG customer, you may remember Villainy (VLNY), a brand we carried back in our beginning.  You may have also received one of the pins we had in a mason jar on our front counter a month ago hinting at this.  From the creators of Villainy we bring you: White Gold Tarantula!!

Chances are, you have seen one of us rockin’ some of their gear over the past year, but we now will have it in stock for y’all to pick up.  Inspired by a line from the Wu-Tang Clan’s resident chef, White Gold is based on presenting street-inspired themes with a classic aesthetic to bring you something different.  Modelling the gear in their lookbook is Juno-Nominated MC JD Era, who just got signed to Raekwon’s label ICE H20, making him that much more suitable for this shoot.

Stop by Saturday April 20th to join us for the welcoming of the brand, and to see why we’re so stoked on what they’re offering.  We’ll also be serving sliders from their good friends at Bacoburger, so make sure to RSVP to the event and be the first to flex the White Gold Tarantula!

Last month you may have caught, with a small assortment of special Extra Butter releases for Black Friday, that we were in full celebration of our 5 Year Anniversary! The small assortment will morph into a barrage after this year is all said and done. So with the #5 in mind, we now present to you our 5 Year 5 Panel Caps!!

Both pics teased on our instagram, you now get a better picture of the caps and their details. First up is our “Movie Snack” 5-panel. Anyone that knows us knows that we stay snackin’, but especially during movie nights. These caps also come in 2 variations featuring our brand new EBAA logo, available in either black or white.

The other hat we’ll be releasing is called the “Red Carpet” 5-panel. Our famous “Official Selection” direct embroidery in gold, with a plushed out, velvet brim. The “Red Carpet” treatment is a concept we hold near and dear to our hearts, and we’re so excited to finally have executed this onto a 5-panel cap we feel came out super buttery!!

The “Movie Snack” & “Red Carpet” 5-panels will be available in-store and online on Saturday, December 15th.

Happy Birthday to us!! I still can’t believe it’s been 5 years, but beyond that – I can’t believe we got to work with Mike Jones!! We became a fan of his work as the art director for Mishka, and over the years have fell in love with many of his designs. A particular favorite of his work, was whenever he’d spell out the name of a company, brand, or event with each letter being illustrated in his own cartoon creation that stayed in sync with the theme.

To celebrate our 5 Year Anniversary further, we had the pleasure of working w/ Mike Jones on our own “Extra Butter” Movie Toon design, with each letter in our name being movie-inspired of course! I’ve been geeked over this for weeks, as this was as fun to work on as the cartoons look themselves, and is a good showing of what our shop’s about, AND the fun we’re about to have as we celebrate our 5th! Big buttery thanks to Mike Jones – who you all should follow and love in addition to his site, his twitter and instagram as well!!

If you’ve been paying attention, and you always should around this time of year – you’d know our 5 Year Anniversary is coming up this Friday, and we always have a buttery trick or two up our sleeves!

We’ve done a teaser pic on our instagram of one pair, and our friend Dallas Penn tweeted his “Official Selection” socks to go smooth with his Air Jordan GMP pack. But here they are for you to get a better look at.

The “Official Selection” is a classic logo in our black/gold standard, while the “EB Clapboard Logo” received the NY treatment, which are being especially well received with the hot start the Knicks have gotten off to!

Happy 5 Year Anniversary to US! This Friday, November 23rd will mark our 5 Year Anniversary…and every Black Friday since we have opened has been a special one whether it be our actual Grand Opening, last year’s unveiling of the “Ahchoo” Pump AXT we did with Reebok, or the other years filled with hilarity and the greatest celebrating possible!!
