Vans Switchback and Chukka Del Barco LX

November 12th, 2009 | Category: Grown Man Business, New Arrivals

It should go without saying that by now, in late 2009…after a few solid years of kicks and clothes draped in all-over prints and crazy colors, a move towards simpler and more refined styles and colorways would make a push. Not to say all that is now “simple” or “clean”, is good. The market still has it’s fair share of wild/loud products that gets things just right (ex. Cassette Playa, Jeremy Scott Adidas and most “O by O” releases, and of course anything Mishka). This newer direction has been here for a while, taking looks to a more sophisticated place, but also maintaining it’s edge by choosing to stick to innovative designs, fresh twists on a classic, and of course proper attention to quality.

In streetwear we’ve seen brands like 10 Deep and Mishka put their cut & sew design aesthetics in the forefront. 3Sixteen is actually a golden example, as they’ve made a complete transition into a well-rounded menswear brand, absolutely perfecting street fashions that easily convert into versatile styles that can be dressed up as well.
*Pieces from 3Sixteen’s Fall 09 Collection is currently available in-store now - pictures will be available very soon*

With unwashed raw, selvage denim as a staple wardrobe piece, it’s only fitting that more mature and polished sneaker styles have become both the staple and highly sought after in one’s collection. We’ve been proud to rock with Vans, who have perfected this look over quite some time, and being now well into the Fall season we’re excited to offer 2 new styles that are sure to add some smoothness to your ensemble.

The first style debuts from the “California” collection - the Switchback, comes in a coated black canvas upper, dark gum bottom, and bi-color boot laces.

The now 4th color of Zapato Del Barco’s we’ve received, has become an easy favorite of ours. This “almond” colorway with brass eyelets is just perfection.

3Sixteen Hooded Henley

July 22nd, 2009 | Category: Events, Grown Man Business, New Arrivals

It’s time to get handsome…it really is. So to assist the process along with the Vans Vaults posted below (or better yet - 3Sixteen x Quoddy Deck Chukkas), we also received (with tons of excitement) a new piece from 3Sixteen to transition you into cooler evening affairs - the “Hooded Henley“.

The lightweight jersey-knit body & snap button closures at the neck and hip allow for versatility. Seersucker surrounds the closures and lines the hood trim giving the piece some slickness that seems simultaneously standout and discreet.

And with the Self Edge NY opening coming up, you’ll have just the right piece to handsome-yourself up in! (The 3Sixteen collections will be housed there each season as well!)

In this installment we are featuring the 3sixteen Seersucker Utility Shirt, and the Vans Surf Rata Plus.

NEW Vans Vault and Surf

April 21st, 2009 | Category: Grown Man Business, New Arrivals

Greetings…

I know the last day or so may not have been too indicative of the warmth and perfection of the Spring season we got a small taste of this weekend, but believe it or not…it will be here. Sooner than you think. As shorts and shades begin to come out, you best believe Extra Butter will be ready to keep you looking smooth.

When you think VANS you tend to think of the beauty out west in sunny California, but out on Long Island, we got plenty of that as well. Whether it be Jones Beach, Long Beach, Robert Moses…there are plenty of spots to get lost in and soak up the sun. Now, I don’t know about you…but I’m not much of a flip-flop guy. It goes beyond having sensitive pisces feet - I really can’t stand the overall lack of support, and they never quite compliment what you’re wearing… not like these can at least.

The Vans Surf line is growing in a direction we’re very happy to be a part of here at EB. Taking classic silhouettes and giving them treatments that have resulted in lighter, earth friendly, money friendly, comfy footwear. All the styles compliment shorts with ease, and transition into denim, seersucker, plaid, and other summery pants that will take one into the evening.

Check out these perfectly casual and simple kicks…

106 SF - skate silhouette, super light sole, and organic canvas

013.JPG

Santa Anna - buttery white suede with that tiny touch of purple makes this penny loafer-type style a must.

0071.JPG

Rata Plus - this has been a fave of ours for a while. The quarry/grey color featured first is as clean as it gets, and for something more breatheable and even lighter - the black pair, comprised of “air mesh” is super breezy.

008.JPG0051.JPG

Cojo - all black to the floor with use of a crepe sole and ripstop upper, these go with everything.

0031.JPG

We also got 2 classic Authentics, from the VAULT line, fully styled in organic, earth friendly materials.

I’d say you’re just about set for the summer…

VANS for the Spring

March 11th, 2009 | Category: Grown Man Business, New Arrivals

Face it, it’s time to grow up in more ways then one. But with style as a focus, some new Vans have arrived to complement the more refined look you’ve been perfecting - set to break out as the weather gets warm.

The ever-simple and classic “Authentic” (available in Mens & Womens sizes) gets a Louie V-like treatment. I put ‘em on as soon as they came in…you too can have a shot at being “Martin Louis the King Jr.”…or not.

But who do you know…with two thumbs, in their own Louis Vuitton look-a-like Vans Authentic!? Haha…

ALSO - 2 “Zapato del Barco’s” - available in brown & plaid.

Favorite Movie: Seven Samurai
Agenda: 7:30PM - Business meeting/dinner @ Simply Thai, 9PM - Drinks with friends
Grown Man Business: “The Mishka Skyway Hoodie has the comfort of a casual hoodie, but with the tusk tooth closure and butter suede elbow patches I can easily wear this as a jacket to a dinner meeting. The color of the flannel lined inside gives the piece it’s flavor. I wore my Vans Vault Chukka Boot Cupsoles, which has similar versatility.”
