Hello all…something new in store for you – fashion with philanthropy. There is a new mission brewing about from the good folk at TCNY. When it comes to giving back and contributing to a cause, people have their own personal reasons for joining the mission, and with that I invite you to have a look at the words below from TCNY’s founder – Mr Chase, and the photos below of limited edition TCNY Hoodies that will ultimately contribute to the world’s fight against HIV/AIDS.

* What is TCNY?

The ThomasChaseNY brand was born in 2009. It’s founder, the man affectionately known Mr Chase, was inspired to make an impact nearly two decades ago. At the age of 10 he had lost his father to the HIV virus and was forced to grow and mature from a boy into an adult quickly. His story is just one of the many.

Studies reflect that each year we lose over 3 million lives to HIV/AIDS worldwide. Meanwhile, it is estimated that nearly 5 million people will be newly affected by contracting this disease year after year, across the globe.

We at TCNY have one simple goal — to be a catalyst of change. With each purchase you make from our line, a significant portion of the net proceeds will be given directly the organizations which work tirelessly to discover a safe and responsible treatment as well as eventually developing a cure that will be accessible to all in need.

TCNY is truly a unique brand with goals much larger than ourselves. We hope you enjoy wearing our designs and feel a sense of pride in contributing to this cause.

* Why use the Rorschach?

The Rorschach test (also known as the inkblot test) is recognized as the most widely used projective test amongst psychologists throughout the world. Through these inkblot-like shapes, a subject’s perceptive range and attitude is recorded, measured and analyzed using psychological interpretation and various complex algorithms.

Here at TCNY, we are not scientists, we’re merely a bunch of creative folks drawing inspiration from everything around us. In this case, we were highly intrigued by the aspect of perception and thus chose to use it as a tool to communicate our own message.

Via these Rorschach images, we are posing the question “What Do You See?” and hopefully inspiring the viewer to think outside of the medium itself and more about their own individual missions. After all, everyone has dreams and aspirations. Ours is to raise awareness and inspire a sense of urgency to help combat HIV/AIDS on a global scale. And, with your help, we are confident it can be done!

Don’t let all these men’s sneaker releases fool you, the ladies have plenty to choose from. The Air Jordan Retro 4 “Voltage Cherry” might just be the cream of the crop. Another shoe to add to the list of kicks guys complain about not having in their size, the Girls AJ 4 has become a quick favorite amongst the prestige of the Air Jordan 4 lineage.

The newest Lebron 9 is also the newest shoe enshrined into a long legacy of sought after kicks with the color, “cool grey”. The perfect name as personified on every shoe the color seems to touch, the Lebron 9 now arrives in it’s cleanest make up yet.

You’ve seen it everywhere by now…this month will be absolutely killer. This is 2012 and you know it’s the Year of the Dragon and we’re pleased to be bringing in our first KD IV with the Year of the Dragon version. A similar colorway to the Lebron 9 China – Kevin Durant’s signature shoe gets a similar color treatment with a mesmerizing print on the strap, tongue, and collar lining.

In exploring the kicks I couldn’t help noticing the little details, telling stories of important people to the Durantula’s life, as seen in the pics below. The “work hard” and “stay focused” messages on the bottom of the shoe represent simply the credos that make Mr. Durant so incredibly successful…and make me want to add this shoe to my collection.

With the Spike Lee “New York Knicks” Spizike drops last year in blue and orange, the sneakerheads (and Knicks fanbase) were pleased to see the original Jordan Hybrid model make it’s way back into the mix. The Spizike, as a shoe has done a good job of being sporadically dispersed in some creative and exclusive colorways. Releasing this Saturday February 4th – is another interesting colorway dubbed the “Bordeaux” – of the Air Jordan 7 fame.

While the AJ 7 “Bordeaux” feature it’s color pops in a more subtle way, the Spizike pops it’s color accents throughout the upper making it an instant standout silhouette. I know some heads have turned away from the multiple color pops, but there’s plenty of people like myself, eager to bring back the fun with these Spizikes and crush the streets. I’m sure these on the feet pics and snaps of the apparel pieces to go along with it will seal the deal for anyone on the fence.

An “It’s Gotta Be The Shoes” t-shirt calls out Spike Lee’s “Mars Blackmon” character’s catch phrase. 2 different shorts will be available along with the signature piece – a clean Spizike Jacket which features a logo on the back, the catch phrase on the sleeve, and a chest hit of the 3, 4, 5, 6 – the Jordan # shoes that make up the design of the Spizike.

The “Bordeaux” Spizike and apparel pieces will all be releasing – Saturday, February 4th at 11AM.

Taking it back…Nike rewinds the running clock with the release of the Pre Montreal Racers. Both original Nike running models made famous by Bill Bowerman’s running model – Steve Prefontaine. The shoes come with a waffle outsole and a nylon/suede mixed upper. The outsole receives the yellowed/dirty “vintage” treatment to give it the original look and feel. Both colorways are OG – USA and Oregon have been classics in the Nike catalog for quite some time making this a highly anticipated and hard to pass up release.

It was only a few weeks ago I was at an airport and saw some really old man wearing this EXACT jacket…well not exact. His was from back in the day when the Air Jordan 4′s originally dropped. And with the “Cement” Air Jordan 4′s set to drop next month, this original jacket is back in all it’s glory. Subtle tonal net-mesh and flight patch references to the AJ 4 design, you can’t go wrong in either colorway as they might just be the 2 cleanest jackets Jordan Brand has ever dropped. The fit is also spot on as well.

If you’re more of a t-shirt kinda guy, we got 2 “Flight” tee’s with the MJ Jumpman fixed in – red and black…easy.

Another highlight from the apparel that came in is the AJ 10-inspired socks. Jordan socks have been keeping my ankles warm all winter, but I’m positive these will look superb when they break out during shorts-weather.

With the Huarache Bball 2012′s starting off the year as one of the best new releases, it’s hybrid brother lowtop runner version has arrived in stores now as well. We start off with 2 basic colorways below – still with that o.g. Huarache upper fused with the Nike Free running outsole.

The navy/red colorway has been favored so far as people are already gearing up for the big Giants Superbowl matchup next week, but there’s no way you can go wrong with the black and dark grey pair as that was always a colorway in the original Huarache models that was highly sought after.

So I guess we can find it in us to put our “Ahchoo” Reebok Pump AXT’s aside for a minute to make room for some new Reeboks right?

Introducing the Dibello Stud Mid. A mix of tonal leather and suede with forefoot straps that get studded out. I’m actually feeling these a lot, although not typically my style. They look great on as you can see in the photos below. The black seems right on for any rockstar occasion and the red pair reminds me of the Michael Jackson “Thriller” jacket for some reason and is dope any way you slice it.

Also from Reebok Classic is the women’s Chi-Kaze – a special ladies version of the popular men’s “Kamikaze’s” that Swizz has been crushing over the past year. The colors here are spot on, and the two straps at the top seem to pay homage to perhaps the most famed shoe in female Reebok history – the Freestyle. Pink Lemonade.

The new month is around the corner, you know the awkward one that gets effected by the leap year. It happens to be my favorite, and with some early Nike arrivals, it looks like it’s going to be another great February.

The Huarache Free’s took the sneakerhead world by storm last month with the “Bright Mango” B-ball version. We have a solid follow up that utilizes the “volt” pop color as an accent to the classic.

For those still keeping up with their New Year’s weight loss resolutions, we brought in the Air Max+ 2012 and it’s predecessor – the Air Max 2009. You can expect the same business from the 2009 and with the 2012 we’re seeing hyperfuse and mesh over that full airbag ride, not to mention, a colorway that should make this a New York favorite!

While some players will start reporting to spring training soon, it’s not quite baseball season yet. Didn’t stop Nike from releasing another Air Max NM – one of the more popular retro’s in the past few years, Hideo Nomo’s original signature shoe is back in a new colorway.

Also making a return – Nike Dunks….that’s right, you haven’t seen some new dunks in a while. And what better way than to bring back that “Butter Knows”, Wu-Tang Killa Bee black and yellow flyness. These are “forever” shoes.

Last but not least, we have this year’s Breast Cancer Awareness shoe. The “Think Pink” Hyperenforcer is for a good cause and honestly, who doesn’t want to stunt on the courts with these!?
