We’ve got another special night lined up for you. This Saturday, we’ll be holding a public screening of “INCALCULABLE” – a short film by Alysia Mazzella. This is somewhat of a first for us, and we are very excited to have Alysia/Secret Rabble at the shop – to show and discuss her work as an young, independent filmmaker/artist.

This is another Kafe King event – so if you’ve been to any of the events we’ve done in the past – you know some goodies will be in store for this Saturday.

In addition to the screening of “INCALCULABLE” we will also have a special guest performance by Honor Roll Crew member – MIKE BAKER the BIKE MAKER!! His recently released “Mike Plays it Cool” and “Body of Work” – is on regular rotation at the shop, so we’re super excited for the experience that lies ahead! Have a listen for yourself here.

ALSO!!! This event is BYOB – with the last “B” standing for baked goods. Snacks and treats seem to be staple at ALL of our events, let’s see what kind of goodies get whipped up for this Saturday!

How do I even write about this night? It’s just consistently the greatest night EVERRRR! Our day is filled with love and energy, but it’s exhausting from all the shopping madness that ensues for our annual Black Friday sale. At night something magical always happens – as tired as we are, our friends and fam come through with the perfect energy that allows us to celebrate silly, all through the night.

The 4 Year was extra special….”Ahchoo” made his sort of debut, or at least announced he’s on the way, but in addition to that we were honored to have special guest performances by the NJ Rebels, Hoddy Base, OGM, and the one and only Ease DaMan!!! I’m not sure how else to describe, but if you follow the EB fam on twitter they described it best as we got late into the night with sentiments similar to “I can’t believe {insert dope artist mentioned earlier} performed at the shop!”. An honor fellas…and we cannot thank you enough.

Also special this year is the fact that we finally have some actual photo evidence of the mother!@#$in’ EB train!! Special extra shout outs to our friend DJ Tezo for holding us down (again!!), causing us to do all sorts of strange dances, and even Rick Rolling the shit out of us!! Hilarious….if anyone has video of this we NEED it!

Unless you’re a hip-hop nerd like myself, you may not be aware of New Jersey’s strong hip-hop lineage. From the late 80′s to the golden age, hip-hop icons such as Queen Latifah, Redman, and Artifacts put New Jeruz (as El Da Sensei likes to say) on the map. Fast-forward to modern day and you will see the same thing happening with the Garden State’s very own art/fashion/hip-hop collective, Jersey Klan, at the forefront.

Last Saturday night Extra Butter was lucky enough to have the Klan (OGM, Moruf, Hoddy, J. Philippe & more) come through for an intimate in-store performance celebrating the release of OGM’s new album, “Kool Kidz of Kolor”. If it wasn’t clear already, these guys are the real deal. Even when rapping in front of a small audience, these guys spit like the entire state of Jersey is on their back, with an energy and passion that seems to be a dying trait in today’s game.

Those who aspire to be in the game should start taking notes, but for now here’s some photographs of the Klan in action.

… and I swear a Metalfinger’s sample never sounded so good! Much respect to the whole crew.

It’s that time again…and while I know I probably said that in a few other blog posts over the past year, but it’s REALLY that time again – the most exciting time of the year, our 4 year Anniversary!!

With all the holiday sneaker heat rolling in on the blog last week, in addition to the Fall/Winter apparel that was featured in our “Official Selections Fall 2011″ Lookbook (Part 1, 2, & 3), the shop is full of goodies to grab a hold of. For our lady friends who might be unfamiliar, Milk & Honey is only a few stores down and is well stocked with unique dresses, outerwear, jewelry, accessories, and more – so don’t worry about having to sit around while the guys try on shoe after shoe.
