Having recently moved to New York from Los Angeles I find myself finding inspiration from my new surroundings and IG photography. I stumbled across 1st instagram page while browsing through LES related pictures, his style captures people and places with such rawness and authenticity. His images truly capture New York's way of life. A Queens native, 1st learned how to take pictures through his love for Cars; his surroundings in NYC and love for people motivated him to capture moments with his iphone. Most people wouldn't know but 1st has also been involved with the video gaming industry for nearly twenty years; he mentioned that he worked for Rockstar and worked on developing games such as GTA and The Warriors. He stopped by the shop last week and I got to sit down and talk with 1st for a few minutes.
What camera are you currently shooting with?
Current favorite to shoot with is the Sony a9.
How long have you been shooting and what inspires you?
I've been taking pictures my whole life, but I would say my interest in photography exponentially increased around 2013 when I finally installed Instagram. Discovering the vast network of like-minded photographers around the world and seeing their amazing work definitely pushes, inspires, and challenges you as an artist. There are so many talented people out there, it really is amazing to see and be a part of.
For me, it's a really obvious answer, but NYC itself has always been a major inspiration to me. I love capturing the hustle, diversity and randomness of the city. I often put the camera down and just watch. It's all about the moments, and in NYC there are countless.
