What got you into music? And what other artists have inspired you and your sound?

I have loved music as long as I can remember. I started singing as a toddler and I basically never stopped. I have always been inspired by the music that I grew up hearing in my surroundings. My mother was young and listened to 90's R&B, Hip Hop and Pop. So Lauryn Hill Sade and Nelly Furtado became some of my favorites quickly. My mother also loved her mothers favorites, Stevie Nicks and Journey. So I inherited those sound inspirations as well. My paternal Grandfather and I were close when I was a child and his musical taste influenced me as well. He taught me everything Motown and everything Chitlin Circuit. The fundamentals. The good stuff.
If you didn’t become an artist/musician, what would you be doing right now?
I would probably be working in politics. I'd use it as a way to really activate my activism and make the kinds of changes that I talk about so much. If not music or politics,I would be studying archeology. Lost in the world soaking up all of its secrets.
What do you feel is the best song you’ve ever released or unreleased and why?
I think that my best work is unreleased. I have some new work being released soon that I am really excited about. I think it is all representative of my growth. I am producing on these records in addition to writing and singing them. I think that people will really understand my vision fully with my new work because I am a part of every element of each song. My favorite unreleased track that is coming out is called "Miss Me Slow", and my favorite song that I currently have out is probably between "Blackboy", "Fanta", and "Anxious".
